Background: Chris

Instead of trying to cram everything into a profile page, I decided to post my background info here so that you could have some idea of where I'm coming from . . . at least from a musical standpoint. Maybe my cohorts will follow suit at some point.

Early Years: Until I was about 12, I listened primarily to two things: talk radio (mainly sports) and Weird Al Yankovich, with the exception of some Neil Young, Eagles, and ZZ Top that my dad would play on road trips. Somewhere in the middle of 6th grade I was introduced to DC 101 and started listening to what the cool kids liked (Green Day, Rancid, and Spacehog were on frequent rotation at the time).

First CDs: Weird Al's "Alapalooza," Tom Petty and the Heartbreaker's "Greatest Hits," Ace of Base's "The Sign," and Journey's "Greatest Hits." That's one hell of a mix tape in the making.

Favorite Artists Through the Years: Weird Al, Dave Matthews Band, Better Than Ezra, Sparta, Mars Volta, Incubus, Decemberists, Pretty Girls Make Graves. It seems that each "favorite" holds less and less tenure, probably because of that whole digital music revolution thing these kids keeping talking about.

Artists I've Seen In Concert: Alien Ant Farm, Bane Mattox, Ben Harper, Better Than Ezra (x 7), Brian Wison, Carbon Leaf, Collective Soul, The Color Fred, Counting Crows, Dashboard Confessional, Dave Matthews Band (x 3), Death Cab For Cutie, Die Trying, Disturbed, Drive-By Truckers, Elvis Costello, Foo Fighters, Fuel, Funeral For A Friend, Further Seems Forever, Gillian Welch, Goo Goo Dolls, Good Charlotte, Green Day, KoRn, Less Than Jake, Linkin Park, Live, Lovedrug, The Lovemakers, Ludacris, Macy Gray, Mandy Moore, Maldroid, Michael Penn, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Minus The Bear, Moby, Muse, Neil Young, Our Lady Peace, Panda, Paul Simon, Pearl Jam, Pinback, Portugal. The Man, Pretty Girls Make Graves, Razorlight, Scissors For Lefty, Sheryl Crow, Silversun Pickups, Snoop Dogg, Sparta (x 4), Straylight Run (x 2), Stroke 9, Superdrag, Thao with the Get Down Stay Down (x 3), Trent Reznor, The Used, Weezer, Wilco, Xiu Xiu (x 2)

Oh, and I also (like Nick) play drums. Check out some videos if you want to see mediocrity in action.

Hahaha, I had totally forgotten about the Mandy Moore concert we had in high school. Ah, illegal voting machines and personal pictures between computer programmers and hot, young pop stars.

Between that and the Save The Last Dance choreography event we won, we were total contest-cheating ballers that year. Didn't Mandy Moore play like 3 songs before everyone was kicked out and told to go to the football game?
